RECORDING PROJECTS

Since 1990 Patrick Garvey has project managed over 150 commercial recordings for which he has provided a complete service.

These include choosing and booking appropriate studio space, producers and engineers, orchestras, soloists, language coaches, photographers and film makers, sourcing the casting of multiple vocal works (oratorio and opera), arranging accommodation, liaising with publishers as well as negotiating everything for his clients and handling finance before providing final statements.

In high levels of repeat business a large number of these successful recordings have been undertaken in partnership with the US based producers Gregory K Squires and Philip Traugott in 29 completed projects with Robert Craft to record music by Stravinsky, Schoenberg and Webern.

Another saw 22 CDs covering the complete orchestral music of JC Bach for cpo with Anthony Halstead and the Hanover Band. Other projects have seen 11 CDs for Naxos of the Michael Thompson Wind Quintet, several recordings with conductor Takuo Yuasa for EMI Eminence and Naxos plus 12 CDs on Maestro Classics for Stephen and Bonnie Simon. Patrick Garvey is currently planning the 8th CD of Barbara Harbach’s complete orchestral music with David Angus and the London Philharmonic Orchestra on MSP Classics.

These recordings have ranged alongside many others that have included music by Humphrey Searle, Allan Pettersson, Carl Friedrich Abel, Rachmaninov, Mendelssohn (Piano Concertos and his Oratorio “St Paul”), Nielsen, Ravel and Lizst. On the lighter side he has worked with music directors / arrangers Nic Raine and Grahame Maclean, the singer Craig Schulman and also in this section the remarkable music written by Ole Schmidt for the 1927 silent film of Jeanne D’Arc.
